Terra Digitalis was born from an institutional project called: “Design and implementation of the Interactive Journal of Maps Terra Digitalis” (2014-2017),
co-financed by the following UNAM’s entities: Centro de Geociencias, Instituto de Geografía, Instituto de Geología, Instituto de Geofísica, Centro de Investigaciones en Geografía Ambiental (CIGA).

The project came to a successful conclusion in April 2017, presenting the first operational version of the web platform and the publication of the first issue of the journal.

The development of the journal project was in charge of the Centro de Geociencias (under the direction of Dr. Gerardo Carrasco Núñez) y del Instituto de Geografía (under the direction of Dr. Omar Moncada Maya and Dr. Manuel Suárez Lastra), through its Geo-spatial Analysis Laboratory (under the direction of Dr. Stéphane Couturier).
